New Website, New Collection.

This week marks two releases for LAC prints. The first is my brand new website which is finally live. The second is the release of my new collection - Romantic Haze.

Romantic Haze was Inspired by two things…

1. A couple of recent weddings that we’ve attended (what’s more romantic than a wedding)

2. The Magnolia tree that’s in full bloom in our front yard. 

So how did the two come together?

I was hit by the romantic bug, having attended a gorgeous rustic wedding back in May in the Southern Highlands of NSW. All the soft colours of the flowers, the crisp white decor and the  pink sunset that painted the paddocks in the late afternoon was the perfect recipe for any collection; I knew it would be the perfect palette for my new greeting card collection.

I was inspired, and ready to get started. But to be honest, my first attempt at the collection was woeful, to say the least. I knew what I wanted in my head, but on paper, it looked like a gothic mess of bad prints and black roses. So far away from the romantic farm wedding that was residing in my head. 

Looking out my front window one day, I noticed the first blooms coming in on our magnolia tree. 

I absolutely love this tree when it’s in bloom. The tree turns the front lawn pink, with petals covering the grass. One flower in particular struck me. It had just opened, and the colour was just perfect. So of course I had to take a photo.

This started my second attempt at my collection. 

My colour palette developed. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My Illustrations came to life.

My prints worked, just like how I imagined it would weeks ago in my head. 

From here everything flowed. Before I knew it, I had my collection right there in front of me. And I absolutely love it. 

It was such a joy to bring this romantic, soft and feminine collection together.
